The advent of digital enhanced cordless technology has had a deep impact on people all over the world. This wireless advanced telecommunication system has made mobile phone much accessible to common persons. Unlike the pattern of analogue cordless phones it is much more sophisticated and being operated through digital propelled cordless technology.
Features of DECT
There are five major distinctive features of DECT as follows:-
1. Cordless private branch exchange is an important factor in DECT system. With this system, the connectivity between an organization and a wired telephone company is established with the distribution of calls over DECT through a radio antenna. A DECT cordless PBX is an advantage to large sized companies like warehouse, hospitals and building sites. It is easy to convert a wired PBX into a DECT system with special DECT equipment.
2. There is another feature of wireless loop. In the case of wireless loop system, an updated telephone base having a device containing computer modem or fax machine must be connected with fixed access unit FAU which has transceiver option. These wireless users can be installed in urban area where there is the same antenna for each user.
3. Home cordless phone. With the installation of one cell antenna at home, one can get DECT mobile phones in every room.
4. Cordless terminal mobility. It is generally used with cordless PBX system. This system gives less mobility comparing GSM system.
5. GSM/DECT internetworking. With GSM integration and seamless DECT, users with handsets can move from outdoors (GSM) to indoors (DECT) signals. In future the application of dual-mode phone will be much popular for its flexibility and wide ranging service. It is the fact; later GSM vendors will prefer DECT signals inside buildings. This new updated GSM-DECT compact handsets will search for DECT signals then seek for GSM signals in case of absence of DECT signals.
